Becky & Mike – Sunday 15th October 2017

We don’t do many weddings on a Sunday but it was our first outing to a very groovy new wedding venue in the heart of St Leonards, so we were excited to get involved.

Kino St Leonards

The very cool space of Kino has recently opened as a venue, making use of the amazing open space, as well as the gallery and the cinema complete with bar. It’s a really quirky and interesting place and lends itself perfectly for holding parties and celebrations.

Also, after meeting Becky and Mike we just knew we wanted to cater for them. Another really chilled laid-back couple who wanted great food but no fuss; we knew we were right for them.

A relatively small group of 45 the wedding party had the meal in the café part of Kino. No frills, just simple seating on mismatched tables and chairs, and perfect for the setting.

The menu Becky and Mike chose was also a relaxed affair. Starters were Garlic & Herb sauteed Mushroom Bruschetta, Breaded Prawns with Sweet Chilli Dip, and for the Vegans & Veggies – Fresh Watermelon, Feta & Mint Salad.

They were set on having three different home-made burgers with different fillings, which they named themselves as follows:

Mike’s All-Star Burger

home-made beef patty, cheese, French’s mustard, ketchup, onion chutney, rocket & lettuce

Becky’s Buttermilk Chicken Burger

crispy fried buttermilk chicken breast with roasted garlic mayo, rocket, lettuce & tomato

Polly’s Veggie Burger

grilled halloumi & aubergine burger with roasted garlic mayo, lettuce, tomato & onion chutney

served with bowls of Fries, Salad & Coleslaw

Trio of Desserts

Trio of Desserts

Although the kitchen was tiny somehow we managed to get them all cooked fresh, assembled and out, and they looked great. It was all hands on deck so unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to take a photo!

Dessert was a trio consisting of mini strawberry pavlova, chocolate brownie, and a mini lemon pot.

With more guests arriving at 6pm the whole group went into the cinema area for drinks and speeches. The gallery area was then used later on for a finger buffet and general milling and chatting.

The whole event had such a relaxed and laid-back vibe to it, so it’s no wonder that we really enjoyed ourselves too.

What a fab couple – we wish them all the best!
