As we are always saying on our blog posts, our wedding couples are always looking for something different for their weddings. Gone are the days of the traditional wedding breakfast, these are few and far between! Couples are now requesting more different ideas for a wedding reception; unusual food, different ideas on themes, based on what their hobbies and interests are and some really bizaare yet fun requests are being made!
For instance, some of our recent weddings included a couple recently, who chose to have a hog roast for their main wedding breakfast – a lovely relaxed choice as it makes a fun topic of conversation, and they had their wedding rings brought to them by a bird of prey! How amazing! A lovely open wedding cake was the choice too, with loads of fresh fruit and again, running with the relaxed theme.
Another couple had a relaxed chill out area with sofas in the beautiful marquee they had – great thing with marquees – loads of space!
Luckily the weather cleared up for this lovely couple so they could enjoy the amazing firework display that was put on for guests and the bridal couple – another great wedding to cater for!
A lovely civilised afternoon tea was requested at one wedding and these are currently very popular with our brides and grooms. It makes it so much easier for people to mingle at a reception such as this. Then with a barbecue later in the evening, a great selection of meats and salads were created for all the evening guests to enjoy.
We also love to cook a huge array of meat joints, to be served at each table, with a designated chef, (one of the guests!) who will then don a chef’s hat, apron and serve all the guests at the table – really good fun!
We love the picnic style weddings, where we introduce a hamper per table, with everything you need for a luxury picnic, whilst under cover and avoiding the showers of the British weather!
Some of the cakes that have been appearing at weddings are stunning; cakes made of cheese, to be served in the evening for all guests – a little smelly but they look wonderful! Open cakes, so you can see exactly what you are getting, fresh sponges that will look stunning! Still we see many cakes that have the couples’ hobbies on them – they do make us chuckle but mean so much to each and every one!
