Different Wedding Food Ideas

Now Christmas is over and the New Year has set in, brides and grooms are really starting to think about their up and coming weddings – and we have many of those booked in already! Each and every one have their own thoughts for the big day and they have totally different wedding food ideas.

Marquee

The theme of the wedding is very important and it all starts from here really. All the initial questions need to be asked:

  • Will it be casual or formal?
  • What time of the year will it be?
  • Is there a sit down meal or everyone milling around?
  • Is there an actual theme to the wedding?
  • Is it a vegetarian or special meal?
  • Would you like sharing platters on each table?
  • Would you like a buffet or waiter service?

All the first questions go on and on and many couples have definite ideas on how they want their wedding to be. Some even have it documented down on a spreadsheet with all the intricacies accounted for. And the guys at Green Fig Catering will happily work with all scenarios!

So how about some different wedding food ideas; well the lists are endless but here are a few

Picnic Hampers

Picnic hamper weddings are very popular. They are totally casual, based around wild flowers, a relaxed atmosphere and everyone sitting together having a lovely chilled time. Sometimes these will be on one big table which is always fun but whatever the seating arrangements we will fill a picnic hamper with whatever homemade goodies you would like – quiche, pickles, salad, bread, cold meats…the list could be endless but all totally delicious!

Fine Dining

Or for the more formal sit down lunch, we consider this more to the end of fine dining – a perfectly placed piece of meat or fish on a plain white plate, with all the accompaniments necessary to look totally stunning and a real wow factor for your guests.

Sharing Platters

How about some sharing platters – this will ensure that each table interacts with everyone on it, makes it a real ice breaker and no one is left out. This is a really fun way of having your wedding breakfast as you can either all dig in, or perhaps one guest could be nominated as chef for the day and can serve everyone else. We can even supply a hat and apron!

Tapas

We have some absolutely gorgeous tapas recipes that we seem to be asked for time and time again. A lot of these can be by way of canapes but we can also offer this as a sit down meal. Everyone loves a bit of everything and you will be amazed at what your guests will try for the first time at your wedding!

Afternoon Tea

This is another lovely way of celebrating, with a high tea. Cream or afternoon teas are so very popular these days and it makes a really nice change, especially if you are having hot food for all to enjoy later in the evening. Neat little sandwiches, lots of lovely cakes and plenty of jam, cream and scones – perfect! All served on dainty plates.

Indian Food

Serving Indian food is becoming more and more popular, especially for evening food. The aromas that wafts around ensure that, even though a lot of guests ate earlier in the day, they still come back for more with some of the Indian dishes we create.

These are really just a few and we could go on about this all day! Our chefs are always inventing new dishes, new flavour combinations and new ideas that will completely wow our happy couples. This all goes towards ensuring that the day runs smoothly and the family and guests have a real day to remember.
