Elaine and Ian tied the knot at The Pilgrim’s Rest in Battle, a fabulous venue in the heart of historic Battle.
The Pilgrims Rest – Battle
Crawley couple Elaine and Ian chose Pilgrims because they wanted it to be intimate and cosy for their 42 guests. There are also plenty of places to stay in Battle too for those that are not local. Situated opposite the imposing Battle Abbey this beautiful venue offers a really unique charm with it’s rustic tables, inglenook fireplaces, and on top of all that it’s known to be haunted!
After the ceremony the guests enjoyed drinks provided by the bar company they had hired in for the day, while we circulated with canape of Chicken Satay Skewers, Basil Pesto Cream Cheese & Sundried Tomato Filo Tartlets, Miniature Croque Monsieur and Mini Cheeseburgers in a Sesame Bun.
The menu
When in was time to take seats in the dining room Elaine and Ian had selected a menu that would befit an Autumn afternoon in late October. On the menu was:
Beef & Ale Stew
Pulled Pork with Gravy & Bramley apple sauce
Mediterranean Vegetable Lasagne
Seasonal Vegetables & Creamy Mashed Potato

Individual Apple Crumble & Custard
Bread Pudding with pouring cream
Tea & Coffee
The main courses, chosen from our Hot Fork Buffet Menu were placed on the tables in bowls for folks to share. With desserts placed alternately to guests so that they could swap or share as required!
A DJ provided the music and although a bijoux venue there is still plenty of room for dancing in the main hall, and those that don’t wish to boogie can congregate in the bar area or back in the dining room, or in the pretty garden area if warm enough.
The evening food was cheese and pate with pork pies and all the trimmings. Not sure it gets any better than this for the perfect grazing supper.
A lovely friendly crowd, we really enjoyed being part of Elaine and Ian’s big day and wish them all the best.
