Always nice to be asked to go back again to somewhere we’ve catered before, and in this case it was exactly this time last year, for Persian New Year.
In the beautiful family home in Eastbourne, the family of doctors entertained many other doctors as well as other friends and family. Canape are a great way to keep it relaxed and informal but get everyone chatting and mingling.
With one of our staff on the bar keeping the drinks flowing and the girls out the front circulating with the freshly prepared canapé, it was a winning formula for a great night. On the canape menu were Coriander & Chilli Hummus on Pitta Toasts, King Prawn & Chorizo Skewers, Thai Crab & Chilli Toasts, Herb Scones topped with Smoked Mackerel Pate, Chicken Satay Skewers & Roasted Mediterranean Vegetable Bruschetta.
Although it was an evening of a few mishaps too! John opened the oven to warm some of the hot canapé and the door came off in his hand! Fortunately the lady of the house said it was like that anyway and that he had not broken it! Glad she confessed to that!
Also our lovely chap sorting the drinks had a little accident with some champagne glasses….and our waitress then proceeded to cut herself on the broken glass! Being a gathering of doctors meant she had them all making a fuss of her and telling her what to do to make it better! This is not the way our events usually go at all, so I’m hoping that we have a year’s worth of clumsiness out of the way now!
And still the lovely hosts saw the funny side and were thrilled with the whole evening, and the wonderful food, even though for once, and very unusually the service was a little like Fawlty Towers!
