Michelham Priory is a truly unique venue which dates back to 1229 and boasts England’s longest medieval water filled moat. It’s also rumoured to be haunted….! Now a stunning venue for weddings and events, guests can make perfect use of the neighbouring barn to seat up to 120 guests.
We were approached by Sainsbury’s to help them organise their event, which was an award ceremony to thank outstanding managers from each branch between Hastings and Chichester. We gave them a few venue suggestions and were so pleased when they selected Michelham Priory, which ticked all the boxes in terms of what they wanted; somewhere that was unique, full of character, and without a corporate feel.
We arranged a small stage for the award ceremony from our friends at Abbey Catering Services, and the organisers had use of the in-house screen and PA system, which also came in handy for their quiz later on. Rossella and her team decorated the room as well as set up a stall of eggs and milk, to represent how Sainsbury’s started off, some 150 years ago.
The event was to take place over 4 hours, so we had to come up with a menu that would be quick and practical to get everyone fed in time, leaving enough time for the awards and so on.
We decided that sharing boards served to the tables would be the ideal solution, and it proved to be a huge success. On the menu was a selection of savoury treats including sausage rolls, mini frittata bites, chicken skewers and olives as well as a selection of gourmet wraps followed by boards of sweet treats and tea and coffee. It certainly hit the spot.

They also wanted us to arrange some sort of entertainment that would fit into the time frame. We suggested a black cab photo booth, courtesy of Coco Photo Booths, and amazing magician Alexander James. Having worked alongside both of these suppliers many a time, we knew they would be perfect.
It was great for us to be able to help out with all of the elements using the contacts we have made over the years.
