Cuckfield Wedding Anna & Elliot – March 2019

The Queen’s Hall in Cuckfield was the venue for Anna and Elliot’s big day.

Our second time catering at the Queen’s Hall, and like last time it was quite a large event. The Queen’s Hall, although a small façade in the quiet village of Cuckfield, is quite sizeable inside, particularly for a village hall. It’s also very well appointed with a large foyer (ideal for welcome drinks and a bar area), a pretty garden, a decent size kitchen and a large area for dining.

Already a beautiful room with wood panelling, Anna and Elliot added to the decadence by calling in Bow’s Hire to dress the room with white drapes – a really effective way of making a wedding-like environment. It really is as stunning as any wedding venue with a considerably higher price tag. Some overhead lighting always creates a warm cosy feel too in a larger space.

The tables were set out in three long runs of trestles, to accommodate the 128 guests. Anna made the most of the plain grey chairs by matching the colour perfectly for the napkins. Little ways to make the best of the items you’ve got really make a great saving cost-wise.

Anna & Elliot tied the knot at St Peter’s Church in Brighton before making their way to Cuckfield, by which time they were ready for some refreshments in the form of Prosecco & canape of mini toad in the hole , homemade cheeseburger in a sesame bun, chicken satay skewers & basil pesto & cream cheese with sundried tomato filo tarts.

For the main wedding breakfast Anna & Elliot selected dishes from our standard Traditional Menu. The guests pre-ordered starters from homemade chicken liver parfait with red onion marmalade & toasted focaccia, ham & leek potato croquettes with wholegrain mustard mayo & homemade carrot & coriander soup.

They pre-ordered mains from roast beef served with Yorkshire pudding, oven roasted salmon fillet with a salsa Verde, and individual goat’s cheese & caramelised red onion tart for the veggies. All served with roast & new potatoes, buttered carrots, baby corn & fine green beans.

Desserts were zesty lemon pots with fresh raspberries, trio of chocolate brownies, or sticky toffee pudding with a warm toffee sauce – all firm favourites and guaranteed to result in clean plates all round.

After the meal the guests piled back into the bar and the garden while some of the tables were moved for the silent disco – a really popular form of wedding entertainment these days, and great fun to watch!

Brownies

Before we headed off we set up a table of cheese and biscuits with platters of meats for the guests to help themselves to. If folks are happy for us to set it all up it also saves money on evening staff. With everything being hired in we didn’t have any platters or cutlery to hang about waiting for.

A fantastic day all round. Anna and Elliot knew what the wanted from the off in terms of how they were going to accommodate, feed and entertain a large group of people, and they executed it very well (with a little bit of help from us!).

We’re so glad they had such a fantastic day and it was a pleasure to cater for them and to venture out to Cuckfield for the occasion.
