Emma & James August Wedding

Emma and James got married and held their reception at Gildredge Manor in Eastbourne.

The ceremony took place in the delightful Garden Room at 2pm. At 2:30pm it was time for drinks and canape in the garden. Canape consisted of Chicken Satay Skewers, Quails Scotch Eggs, King Prawn & Chorizo Skewers and Cherry Tomato, Mozzarella & Basil kebabs. Chef Ben’s home-made Scotch Eggs really are the business; cooked to perfection every time and served warm.

BBQ served to table

After an hour or so of milling around the guests made their way up the grand staircase to the dining area, the Gallery Room. Emma and James loved the idea of BBQ food, but served to the tables, sharing style. With 92 guests it was almost up to full capacity so this worked better from a service point as well, so there was no getting up and down.

And a real feast awaited them. On the menu was Sticky Barbecued Pork Belly, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Barbecued Fillet of Salmon with a Salsa Verde and Veggie Kebabs with Halloumi & Pesto. Served with sides of Green Fig’s House Salad with a Vinaigrette Dressing, Sun-blushed Tomato and Black Olive Orzo Salad, Homemade Pink Coleslaw and a selection of Homemade Breads and Butter.

Dessert was the classic Eton Mess, served in large bowls for sharing. The food was important to Emma and James and thankfully it seemed to hit the spot for them and everyone else too. This is what they said about it: “We had such a fantastic day thank you! Delicious and abundant BBQ feast followed by the best Eton mess I’ve ever tasted! Our guests were upset that they were too full to lick the bowls clean :-)” Well, actually those bowls came back pretty clean, so I think some had tried!

Coffee was taken downstairs in the Ladies Morning Room and after the usual proceedings of cake cutting, entertainment and making full use of the cash bar at Gildredge Manor, there was more food to come!

Emma and James went for a classic cheese board with all the trimmings for their evening food, and added to it with our ham and continental meats platters.
