Another outing to the beautiful Pilgrims Rest in Battle. Situated in the heart of the town, adjacent to the Abbey, Pilgrims Rest is a truly unique venue.
With years of experience in the wedding industry you’ll be in good hands with wedding manager Amy Matthews who will ensure the whole day runs smoothly.
Judy and Malcolm held their ceremony in the Great Hall followed by Prosecco and canapé of Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Blinis, Chicken Satay Skewers, deep-fried Goat’s Cheese Bites and crispy Filo Tartlets filled with Chicken Liver Parfait & Red Onion Marmalade.
With roaring open fires in all of the rooms this is one of the only venues where inclement weather outside is actually a bonus!
The Dining Hall is furnished with chunky oak tables, runners and candlesticks. Seating can be individual chairs or long chunky benches, medieval banquet style! Judy and Malcolm wanted hearty food to complete the medieval feel.
Starters were Sussex Smokie Pots and sharing platters of Cheese & Leek Croquettes. Served in bowls to the tables the guests helped themselves to mains from our Hot Fork Buffet Menu – namely Beef & Ale Stew with herby Dumplings, Creamy Chicken Casserole, and Butternut Squash Tagine with Mashed Potato & Seasonal Vegetables.
Desserts were Apple Crumble with Custard, Chocolate Brownies & Tropical Fruit Salad.
Second time around for Judy and Malcolm they wanted their day to be an intimate gathering of close friends and family – no DJ or late night boozing, just classy and relaxed in a beautiful cosy setting.
We were thrilled to hear Malcolm say that it had been exactly what they had wanted and that the food and professional service played a big part in a really special day for him and Judy.
We wish Judy and Malcolm all the very best.
