Pie & Mash Wedding – Sam & Dan – Sat 17th November 2018

Sam and Dan held their wedding reception at BHASVIC, a Sixth Form College in Brighton and Hove. They tied the knot at the Town Hall in Brighton, then made their way to the venue.

With their previously booked caterers ceasing to trade, this was somewhat of a last minute booking for us, and a completely new venue. But what a great venue it is. Once in the wood-panelled main hall you’d be forgiven for not realising that you were in a college at all; more like the Harry Potter dining hall!

Home made Steak & Ale Pie

We worked from the Staff Room which was spacious and all the equipment we needed was hired in in the usual way.

Although they kicked things off with Prosecco and Canape, Sam and Dan wanted a simple, straight-forward day with food to match. So pie and mash was what they wanted on the menu for the main meal.

Chef Ben makes fantastic pies and guests pre-ordered from either Steak & Ale Pie with a Beef Gravy, Chicken & Leek Pie with a Chicken Gravy or Roasted Squash, Feta & Sage Pie with a vegetarian Gravy. Served with Mash and mixed Vegetables it really hit the spot with the guests.

Guests had brought various cakes and sweet treats for the dessert table, but no dessert table would be complete without our fabulous chocolate brownies which were served with the other desserts along with self-serve tea and coffee.

Sam and Dan had a cheese tower rather than a sweet wedding cake, which we dissembled and plattered-up before we left, ready for them to tuck into when they were ready.

Sam and Dan were worried that finding a caterer at short notice was going to be stressful but once they’d found us they knew not only were they in safe hands, but the food would be fantastic. On the day they were so relaxed and enjoyed every minute, so we’re also very glad they found us!
