We love a Dinner Party especially when it’s in an amazing rental property with an amazing kitchen to work from (not to mention the pool, gym, sauna, grounds etc…..but unfortunately that’s not what we were there for).
Guest in the Buff!!
The beautiful house is in Mayfield, and also one that Ben and I have worked in before, only a year ago. This time it was a ‘hag do’ which is a mix of hen and stag so 11 friends had hired the property for the weekend and had us in to kick things off in style for the Friday, before a big night out on the town in Brighton on the Saturday.
It was a lovely day so the guests were milling about in the fantastic garden and chose to eat outside. They had also laid on a Butler and Butlerette to wait on the table, and serve drinks. This is so popular now, be it Hunks in Trunks, Butlers in the Buff or any of the other companies springing up all over the place with equally amusing names! A great way to get everyone in the party spirit!

But when the naked butler failed to show up on time, one of the guests (all a lively bunch!) did the honourable thing and stepped in to help carry plates out. All we had for him to wear was one of our very short waitress aprons….oh dear, what a terrible shame! But I have to say he wore it incredibly well….!
When the Butler did show up our helpful friend was relieved of any waiting duties (although still ate the rest of his meal in just the apron!). With the guests fed and watered nicely they took off to the downstairs home cinema, sauna and pool area for more drinks while Ben and I cleared away.
They chose a fantastic menu of Balsamic Shallot Tarte Tatin with a Blue Cheese Dressing to start followed by Pork Medallions on a bed of creamy Leeks and Mushrooms with fresh Spinach, and followed by a Trio of Desserts. We didn’t bother with the Tea and Coffee as this was the last thing on their mind…the party had only just started!
