Sara and Neil tied the knot at Pilgrims Rest, a fantastic venue in Battle on Saturday 16th November.
Sara’s family are Spanish so unsurprisingly they wanted to reflect this in their menu. Only their canape were typically British, but washed down with Spanish Cava of course.
For the Wedding Breakfast, not only did they choose our Tapas Menu but they added several dishes of their own such as Serrano ham and Manchego cheese bought from the family’s local area in Spain as well as Padron peppers (which are fantastic). Also, Sara’s Dad makes a mean tortilla!
The menu
It was a fantastic menu and one that we were equally excited about. Despite being in England on a typical November day, the style was truly Mediterranean, with boards and bowls of food to share coming out at different times, tapas style.
The guests were a mix of Spanish and English but fortunately all were in agreement that this food is really a crowd-pleaser. And the compliments we had from Spanish contingent of our tapas were most appreciated. In fact, one Spanish guest said the fish dish was the best he’d ever tasted.
And the English guests were more than happy to tuck into dishes they may not have been familiar with before – and there was certainly plenty of it! This was Sara and Neil’s menu:
Jamon
Queso
Pimientos de padron
Tortilla espanola
Paprika chicken thighs with peppers
Slow-cooked octopus salad
Meatballs in a rich tomato sauce
Mediterranean char-grilled vegetable
Cod with a black olive & manchego crust on a pepper & onion stew
Spinach leaves with sliced mushrooms with pine nuts, parmesan & home-made pesto
Oven-roasted king prawn & chorizo skewers
Mushroom risotto
Home-made focaccia
~~~
Lemongrass crème brulee with home-made shortbread biscuits
Coffee & chocolate pots
Tea & Coffee
~~~
Finally defeated by the endless platters the guests moved though to the hall to hear a family member and his band play. With a DJ taking over the music in the hall, drinks in the bar area and board games in the dining area, there was plenty to occupy the 62 guests – at least until it was time for the evening cheese boards!
A truly gastronomic day and a great bunch to cater for, not to mention Sara and Neil who were an absolute delight. We’re so glad we made their day as authentic as possible and that they had such an amazing day.
