This was the second occasion that we catered for Lynne and her family; this time they were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary.
With some 75 guests invited and a three course sit down meal in mind, Lynne decided the best option was to have a marquee put in the garden, which we were able to help out with by referring her to Dave at www.meridian-marquees.com based in Battle.
Being November it was important to have heating and flooring put down which Dave was able to provide, as well as a catering area attached to the main part of the marquee for us to work from. All the kitchen equipment that we need such as ovens etc. is hired in by another local company www.abbeycateringservices.co.uk and delivered to the venue along with all of the crockery, cutlery & glassware, all of which is return-dirty so there’s no washing up to contend with.
The evening started with canape and of course, some drinks, served by our staff. Lynne selected a set menu for everyone, which made things easy (and a separate vegetarian option).
For starters the meat-eaters enjoyed a beef carpaccio followed by slow-roast lamb. The dessert was a lemongrass crème brulee which is an interesting twist on the original. A hearty meal for a stormy and wintry evening.
Luckily the weather perked up a little in time for the fireworks, and certainly the horrible weather didn’t stop everyone enjoying the evening.
