Lauren and David tied the knot in the Garden Room in Gildredge Manor at 2pm, promptly followed by Pimms & Lemonade in the garden and Pink Lemonade for the kids.
Lucky with the weather the guests made use of the delightful garden area and were even treated to a magician entertaining them. A really popular idea these days that always goes down really well with everyone, young and old alike.
Guests arrived upstairs in the Long Room for a 4:15 sit down which consisted of picnic hampers full of goodies brought to the tables for them to unpack and share out. This is always a winning formula for any wedding, particularly if you want a British summery feel and an informal touch.
It’s also great in terms of pleasing everyone, regardless of age and tastes, there’s plenty to choose from and plenty to go around. It’s the perfect combination of meat, cheese and salads…the ideal picnic we all think we’ll make one day but in reality we end up with a sandwich, pack of crisps and a bit of fruit!
The hamper delights included: Home made Chorizo & Cherry Tomato Quiche, Maple Glazed Gammon, Home made Pork & Herb Sausage Rolls, Spinach & Feta Tartlets, Chicken Satay Skewers, and Mature Taw Valley Cheddar.
Accompaniments on the table were New Potato Salad, Moroccan Style Cous Cous, Greek Salad, Breads and Chutney. Eton Mess finished things off nicely, along with a nice cup of Coffee.
Guests have the run of the building throughout the day and the evening which is great for stretching your legs after a good feast, and if you go for a DJ or disco it can be in a separate room to the bar and other rooms, so not everyone has to get up and boogie if they just want to mill about or chill out in the library.
Everyone soon comes together again for the evening food though, and what better way to attract people than the smell of Bacon rolls! The veggies had Halloumi, Mushroom and Spinach rolls (also very popular with the meat-eaters!) and it all went down a storm.
Lauren and David are a delightful young couple with a great future ahead of them, and we wish them all the very best!
