Michaela & Rob’s Wedding at The Pilgrim’s Rest

Michaela and Rob held their ceremony and wedding reception at The Pilgrims Rest, a beautiful historic building in Battle.

After the ceremony in the main hall the 46 guests enjoyed fizz and beers, and although it was October many ventured outside to take in the view of Battle Abbey just opposite; which also makes a lovely back drop for photos.

Meanwhile our staff kept glasses topped up as well as served canape of mini cheeseburgers, mini toad in the hole, filo tartlets filled with sundried tomato cream cheese with pesto, and petit croque monsieur.

The main menu

When the wedding party took their seats in the dining room for the Wedding Breakfast this was their menu:

Cream of vegetable soup served with bread roll & butter

Chicken liver parfait with red onion marmalade & toasted focaccia

Garlic & herb sautéed mushroom bruschetta

Roast beef served with Yorkshire pudding with gravy

Bacon wrapped chicken breast with gravy

Roasted butternut squash & spinach lasagne

 served with bowls of roast potatoes, tender stem broccoli & carrots

Individual & apple & cinnamon crumble with custard

 Zesty lemon pots with fresh raspberries

After the meal guests had hot drinks from the self-serve coffee station, while the rest headed for the bar where Michaela and Rob had organised an outside bar company to take care of everything.

Later on a DJ provided the entertainment and then it was time for the home-made Cornish pasties (or cheese and onion for the veggies). Michaela and Rob had requested this from the off, so we asked our Head Chef to try out some recipes and they were so good they are now firmly on our evening food menu with many taking us up on it.

And they went down a storm too. Served in paper bags so they were easy to grab and eat before heading back to the dance floor. Michaela said “some of our guests had 3 in a row they were that good! We’re so glad we had the idea and could add that to your repertoire” We’re glad too!
