Back at Gildredge Manor again – one of the most beautiful wedding venues by far.
After holding the ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Old Town the guests arrived at the stunning Gildredge Manor, with it’s beautifully decorated rooms and charming enclosed garden. With nearly a hundred guests there was plenty of space for guests to grab a welcome drink and enjoy exploring the surroundings.
With Prosecco and local brew Harvey’s going down a storm the Green Fig staff offered around canapé consisting of Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Blinis, Roasted Mediterranean Vegetable Bruschetta, Sun-dried Tomato & Parmesan Arancini Balls and home-made Quail’s Scotch Eggs.
A lively bunch, with many West End singers and actors in the mix, you could certainly hear that they were having a great time. And of course it wouldn’t be long before someone started on the piano (which had been specially tuned the day before just for them).
With musical theatre being Sarah and Mark’s passion it was no surprise that the tables were named after West End theatres up in the Gallery where they dined.
In fact Mark had been banging out some great show tunes the day before when we were setting up the tables – great fun for us (although I think Sarah thought it was his way of getting out of doing the table decorations)!
The crowd were equally as enthusiastic about the food on offer. Starters were Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella Salad with a home-made Pesto dressing, home-made Ham Hock Terrine with home-made Piccalilly, or Thai Fishcakes with an Asian Slaw.
Mains were either slow roasted Pork Belly, oven baked Cod or a Filo basket with a wild Mushroom & Spinach Ragout, followed by a trio of desserts consisting of a rich Chocolate terrine, Banoffee Pie and a zesty Lemon pot.
With music aplenty and lots of hilarity coming from downstairs after the meal you could tell that this lot were there for a really good shindig! There’s nothing better than hearing raucous laughter and hilarity coming from the guests.
It was also nice to see a couple who’s wedding we did a few years ago at the same venue – good friends of Sarah and Mark.
We’re so thrilled that Sarah and Mark enjoyed their big day, and that the food was such a hit with their guests. They say themselves that they are foodies, but they obviously made the right choices for their guests too – the proof being in the clean plates that came back into the kitchen.
Another great couple and a great day. I won’t say that we were not tired at the end of it but it’s always worth it when you hear such great comments from such a nice crowd.
All the best to Sarah and Mark, and thanks for choosing Green Fig! x
