A VW split-screen bus has got to be the coolest way ever to arrive in style on your wedding day!
Probably a little bit biased seeing as we are proud owners of a 1973 bay window camper (a rather ill-tempered beast called Dougal) but Vikki and Jules’s transport certainly turned a few heads.
The couple chose the beautiful Gildredge Manor for their wedding reception, one of our regular haunts. After the ceremony in the Garden Room the guests enjoyed canapé in the grounds that consisted of all the old favourites:Chicken Satay Skewers, Roasted Mediterranean Vegetable Bruschetta, Thai Crab and Chilli Toasts and Sun-dried Tomato and Parmesan Risotto Balls (Arancini).
After drinks, canapé and a few photos the guests took their seats upstairs in the Long Gallery where they enjoyed platters of bbq food brought to the tables. Bbq’s are so popular these days, but you don’t have to have your guests queue up outside in what could be inclement weather – it can be served from a buffet table inside or as sharing platters.
On the menu was Pulled Pork with a bbq sauce, Vegetable & Halloumi Kebabs, Salmon Parcels with Lemon and Herbs and Butchers Sausages. Accompaniments included Roasted Butternut Squash and Rocket Salad, Moroccan Style Cous Cous and Homemade Coleslaw.
Back downstairs for dessert, which was served in the garden from a traditional style ice cream cart – and luckily the weather was perfect for eating ice cream too.
The evening food was little bowls of Curry and Paella with Nan Bread and French bread – ideal if you’ve worked up a hunger on the dance floor. Food like this always hits the spot these days – and not a sausage roll in sight!
Vikki and Jules were great fun and had a great day. We wish them both all the very best!
