Zoe & Luis – Friday 4th August 2017

Our first outing to Chilley Barn at Chilley Farm – just down the road from our unit in Pevensey, and we hope it’s not the last.

ceremony at Chilley Barn

A charming barn on the grounds of the farm, with a large courtyard as well as a neighbouring field for wedding campers – Chilley Barn has it all. And it certainly couldn’t be any more convenient for us with Green Fig HQ literally a few minutes up the road.

Zoe and her Portuguese fiancé Luis tied the knot on site too, holding the ceremony outside in the field, with hay bales as seating. The ceremony was conducted by our good friends www.kateandkatecelebrants.co.uk and the weather was kind.

After the ceremony the guests came into the barn for Prosecco and canapé. A variation of the mini burgers Zoe and Luis chose pulled pork sliders and they went down a treat, along with some of the old favourites: smoked salmon & cream cheese blinis, roasted Mediterranean vegetable bruschetta, and king prawn & chorizo skewers.

VW Bar

The dining area was illuminated with pretty fairy lights and felt so cosy. The guests took their seats at 4pm and enjoyed a three course meal followed by coffee.

Along with our  home-made ham & cheese croquettes, there was also a king prawn cocktail on the starter menu. Bit of a blast from the past but so many folks still ask for it, and we add a bit of vanilla to our sauce to give it a little twist.

Wrapped chicken breast was on the main menu along with oven roasted salmon fillet with salsa verde served with new potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

The desserts consisted of Sussex banoffee pie, lemon pots and our fabulously decadent stick toffee pudding with warm toffee sauce.

Chilley Barn

With a band in the evening for entertainment and a cheeseboard set up just before we left, the party was in full swing and folks were making use of the indoor and outdoor space.

The bar was the coolest one we’ve seen so far – not surprising seeing that we are big VW camper fans and have our very own 1973 model (aka Dougal).  The VW bar certainly upstaged poor old Dougal but it was a real beauty.

Zoe and Luis and all of their guests had a great day at a fantastic venue, and we wish them both all the very best.
