Allen & Rachel – Saturday 12th September 2015

Rachel and Allen got married at St Lukes Church at Stone Cross in Eastbourne, and held their Wedding Reception in the adjoining hall.Photo 12-09-2015 15 58 30

After the ceremony guests enjoyed a glass of Pimms & Lemonade and milled around inside and out. The hall was decorated by an external company and it looked fantastic. Any room can be transformed with drapes, and especially with pretty chair covers. The centrepieces were vintage cake stands and each place setting had it’s own vintage tea cup and saucer – a really nice touch.

When the guests took their seats they started off with the speeches and the toast. Many couples choose to do this these days and it’s a good idea. Having the Champagne ready poured speeds up the service but most of all it gets the speeches done and dusted so that everyone can concentrate on enjoying themselves. Very good if anyone is a bit nervous about public speaking. Photo 12-09-2015 15 33 19

With the speeches out of the way and everyone relaxed the guests enjoyed a Bruschetta, topped with Roasted Shallots, Serrano Ham and Parmesan shavings. The main course was the real show-stopper. A Chicken and Chorizo Paella cooked over a burner in a huge authentic Paella pan. It was getting a bit windy outside for it to cook in time so Chef Ben had to bring it indoors after a while….

With bowls of Paella being brought to the tables as well as bowls of Salads and Home-made Breads, it was a feast to fill up the hungry masses. The bowls were replenished (some 4 times!) and it proved to be a real crowd-pleaser. The Vegetarians didn’t miss out on the Paella as they had their own Vegetarian version – which also went down a treat. Photo 12-09-2015 17 28 14

For dessert the guests enjoyed the ever-popular  Trio of Desserts – this time consisting of Chocolate Brownie, Vanilla Cheesecake and Lemon Mousse.  After a leisurely coffee service the couple nipped off for some late afternoon pictures at Pevensey Castle and then back in time for the evening guests to arrive and the entertainment.

After a good boogie the guests then tucked into the finger buffet that we had set up including treats such as continental meats, a cheeseboard, filled tortilla wraps, mini muffin pizzas, individual quiches, speciality sausage rolls and other savouries.

Rachel and Allen were so laid-back and relaxed from start to finish – which is why they enjoyed themselves so much! (see their testimonial, left). They were an absolute delight to cater for – as were their guests who were so friendly and appreciative, many of whom came to compliment us for the great food. People like this make our job so much easier, and we can honestly say that we really enjoyed our job this day!

A top couple – we really wish Rachel and Allen all the very best for their future. They’ve already suggested we re-create their wedding meal for an anniversary party some time in the future – what a great idea (and a great excuse for another party)….we’d be very happy to oblige!
