Laura & Phil – Saturday 25th June 2016

This was our first visit to The Party Field – quite literally a huge field just south of Lewes with stunning views over the South Downs. The perfect venue for a rural and rustic wedding.

Laura and Phil wanted a really informal feel to the wedding, and wanted to make the most of the tranquil and private setting (it’s a proper pain to find!) by encouraging guests to camp for the weekend. Bell tents are really popular these days and add a bit more comfort than the conventional tents, and with use of the field for the whole weekend it makes sense to do it in style.

The weather was threatening rain but on the whole it wasn’t too bad. Guests had their wellies on though, and were ready for whatever the British weather threw at them.

The informal theme continued in the tipi with long wooden tables with no cloths. Keeping it simple always works best, but particularly for this type of setting, and it saves you money…it’s a no-brainer.

So once you’ve got the venue and the style sorted, you need food that is going to reflect that style – and what better than a big paella for guests to tuck into! And it doesn’t have to be a fish Paella – Laura and Phil chose a Chicken and Chorizo Paella which also works brilliantly and is a real hit.

The vegetarian option was a Moroccan Vegetable Tagine, all served with Herbed Cous Cous, Roasted Butternut Squash & Rocket Salad with Toasted Seeds, and warm New Pototoes. With baskets of home-made Breads on the tables, it was a feast most would be proud to eat. Desserts were individual Banoffee Pie and Zesty Lemon Pots with fresh Raspberries.

The guests were left enjoying themselves after we came off site and they had a Hog Roast planned for later on that evening.

Really great people to cater for – we love this kind of wedding,  and what a lovely location to cater from.

We wish Laura and Phil all the very best, and we’re so glad they enjoyed their day.
