Yes, it was another double wedding day for us – but with John and myself on one, and Chef Ben & Angela on the other we had it all under control.
As a rule we don’t take more than one big event on a day, but if the numbers are manageable and we know we can give it 100% then we’ll do it. Anne and Aaron had only 45 guests – making it a perfectly intimate gathering at the beautiful Manor Barn in Bexhill – another of our favourite places to work.
Anne and Aaron love home-cooked food and they chose a simple but delicious menu. It started off with canapé of Miniature Toad in the Holes, Mediterranean Vegetable Bruschetta, Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Blinis and Melon with Parma Ham, served with their welcome drinks after the ceremony, which also took place at Manor Barn.
Then it was time to get the room turned around for the main event, which started off with speeches – more and more couples are choosing to do them first these days – so that you can really enjoy the meal without the pressure of what is to come. Prawn Cocktail with a Vanilla Marie Rose Sauce, Classic Chicken Caesar Salad & Farmhouse Pate served with Onion Relish & Toasted Country Bread were then the next priority to get stuck into.
The mains included Chicken Breast stuffed with Garlic & Herb Cream Cheese, wrapped in Air Dried Ham, Goats Cheese and Caramelised Red Onion Tart, Roasted Cod Loin served with a Tomato & Chorizo Ragout and Individual Steak & Ale Pie served with a Red Onion Gravy.
Desserts consisted of Sussex Style Banoffee Pie (a firm favourite at many of the weddings we do), Chocolate Fudge Cake with a Red Berry Compote & for those that can’t decide – a trio of desserts – mini portions of Zesty Lemon pot, Chocolate Brownie & Strawberry Pavlova – definitely the one to go for!
With the guests thoroughly enjoying the food it was a real pleasure for the team to be catering for Anne and Aaron and their guests – all of whom were so friendly and really complimentary about the food.
We wish Anne and Aaron all the very best – and thank them for their lovely testimonial (see left).
