Wedding – Jayne & Matt – Saturday 27th May 2017

This was our first visit to Udimore Village Hall, but with a few more booked, it won’t be our last.

And what a lovely Village Hall it is. Like many it’s got everything you need. Parking, a fully fitted kitchen,  separate bar area, tables and chairs provided and a lovely private outside space.

Udimore Village Hall

We hear all the time from couples who’ve just paid in excess of £5K for a venue and then come to us saying they are on a budget for the food! It doesn’t need to be that way. Why not pay  a few hundred pounds for a venue you can hire for the whole weekend, and use the rest of the budget on making it look beautiful and having fabulous food and wine – as well as having all the people there that you want to invite? It’s a no-brainer! And with a Village Hall as pretty as this one, there isn’t actually any compromise on surroundings either.

Jayne and Matt got married in nearby Guestling Church at 2pm, and the wedding party then made their way to the Village Hall for arrival drinks and nibbles.

Jayne and Matt chose to have a traditional Afternoon Tea as their wedding breakfast. Beautifully British with lashings of tea….and Prosecco!

It’s important to have a good balance of savouries and sweet treats so that people feel full; after all there is only SO much cake we can eat! Jayne and Matt chose a lovely menu of fresh dainty sandwiches, individual mini quiches, cheese scones filled with Cheddar, mango chutney and rocket and home made pork and herb sausage rolls.

Dressed Scones

Then it was time for the sweet treats, brought out on decorative cake stands. They selected our amazing chocolate brownies, strawberry and cream dressed scones, and mini lemon drizzle loaves.

The day had a really nice feel to it – simple and relaxed – and they were also a great crowd. The food reflected the setting absolutely perfectly – and that is key to getting the day to flow.

Jayne and Matt chose to have a mobile bar company to take care of evening drinks, and they set up in the garden. They also had a band to keep everyone entertained while we cleared down and got ready for the next session of food!

The evening food was a simple cheese platter with cold meat platters added on. Again, simple and satisfying. No need to over-complicate things. You need to feed people, but you don’t know how much people want, so this way folks can tuck in as much or as little as they please.

Jayne and Matt were an absolute delight to cater for – and we wish them all the best!
