Selmeston Village Hall Wedding Catering

Kelly and Justin chose this wonderful little gem in the countryside for their wedding reception on 21st September 2019.

Selmeston & Alciston Village Hall is right up there with one of our favourites; it has everything. Space, views, parking, bar area, stage and most importantly a kitchen. While we can cope if there isn’t one (as long as there is enough space to hire everything in and create a makeshift kitchen) it’s a real bonus if there is one – not to mention making it much cheaper for you.

And with really low hire rates (less than £1,000), village halls really are amazing value for money. And you can hire them for the whole weekend, giving you plenty of time to set up the day before and collect any last bits the day after. Yes, there’s a bit more work involved than hiring a ready-made venue where everything is done for you – but the folks that hire village halls are the ones that really want to get involved – so it’s all part of the fun.

Kelly and Justin, a lovely young couple on a budget chose this venue for all of those reasons and it was just perfect. They were excited from the off about having picnic hampers – nice and simple but fabulous, filling food for their guests. Also, it tied in really well with the countryside setting.

This was the menu they chose for the contents of their hampers:

Roast Breast of Turkey, Pork & Herb Sausage Rolls, Chicken Satay Skewers, Pork Pies, Cheese Straws, and Spinach & Feta Filo Tartlets. Served alongside were New Potato Salad, Moroccan Style Cous Cous, Green Leaf Salad and Home-made Bread with Butter.

Desserts were of course the infamous Sussex Banoffee Pie, and Chocolate Fudge Cake – served sharing style to the tables – and really hitting the spot judging by the clean plates that came back.

For drinks, they hired the uber-cool Dub Bar – an adapted VW Camper van.  Guests paid for their own drinks which obviously saved Kelly and Justin a lot of money.

With music to keep them all entertained into the evening we cleared down and left them to it. They were sorting their own nibbles and sweets for later so if we’re not needed that keeps the costs down too (and we get a rare Saturday evening off)!

Kelly and Justin had the wonderful day they dreamed of with their family and friends – without breaking the budget. It can be done! And they were an absolute delight, all of them.
