Cherry Barn is a beautiful rural venue in Beckley, near Rye, where we are fortunate enough to be on their list of recommended caterers.
Run by Mel and Steve who own the farm, Cherry Barn is a dry-hire venue; which basically means you hire the space and then do the rest of it your way. There is an outside ceremony area, a kitchen, and a cash bar for the evening. But most of all it’s a wonderful light and airy space in a stunning setting.
Jess and Terry were adamant they were going to hold the ceremony outside, despite some strong winds on the Friday. Luckily the weather was fine on the Saturday and the winds had subsided, so Jess got to have her ceremony just the way she’d planned it.
We’d set the tables on the Friday (you get the space from Friday – Sunday) and Jess and Terry had decided on two long lines of tables, plus a small table just for the two of them. The tables they hired in were rustic tables, with no need for cloths. Perfect for the setting, although it’s such as versatile space that anything would work here.
After the ceremony drinks and nibbles were on offer, served outside. Jess and Terry had chosen our Traditional Standard Menu, and guests had pre-ordered their choices from the following:
King prawn cocktail with a vanilla Marie rose sauce
Garlic & herb sautéed mushroom bruschetta on toasted focaccia
Ham & leek potato croquettes with wholegrain mustard mayo
~~~
Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding
Oven roasted salmon with salsa Verde
Individual goat’s cheese & caramelised red onion tart
served with roast & new potatoes, carrots, green beans & baby corn
~~~
Eton mess
Zesty lemon pots with fresh raspberries
Trio of chocolate brownies:
Rich dark chocolate, Salted Caramel, Chocolate & Walnut
~~~
Tea & Coffee
They also had a kid’s menu for the six children in the wedding party, which consisted of hummus & crudité, home-made chicken goujons with chips, and chocolate brownies with ice-cream.
Later on in the evening they had a food van, which works well at Cherry Barn as there is lots of space for it to park up.
We’re so thrilled that our first outing to Cherry Barn was such a success and that Jess and Terry had such a magical day.
