Wedding – Sophie & Laurence – March 2019

Sophie and Laurence got married at Hendall Manor Barns, a beautifully converted barn tucked away in Heron’s Ghyll near Uckfield.

King Prawn Cocktail

Sophie and Laurence chose a Sunday to get married on as many venues, Hendall Manor Barns included, offer really good savings for non-Saturday events. Having a toddler and a recent addition of baby twin girls, Sophie and Laurence obviously have a lot of outgoings but that didn’t stop them celebrating in style.

With a third of the guests being children it was a really family-oriented day, which was important to Sophie and Laurence. Sophie looked beautiful in a classic ivory wedding dress as she was escorted down the aisle by her father. Sadly Sophie’s mother had recently passed away but a place at the dining table had been kept free, with beautiful flowers on the place setting and a photograph.

While the guests were enjoying drinks and canape on the upper level, the room was turned around on the lower level ready for dining. The weather wasn’t quite warm enough to enjoy the immaculate garden area, but with plenty of space indoors it didn’t matter.

The guests then took their seats and the adults enjoyed dishes from our standard Traditional Menu, while the children had a separate more child-friendly menu.

Home made Steak & Ale Pie

The standard Traditional Menu has all the favourites on, simple dishes done really well. And we allow you to offer your guests a choice of three, so there’s really something for everyone on this menu be it a king prawn cocktail, a home-made steak and ale pie, or a sticky toffee pudding, just some of the choices Sophie and Laurence offered their guests.

After the speeches and coffee, there was a DJ and disco on the upper level just for the kids. This was a great way to keep the kids entertained indoors while the adults could stay at the tables enjoying some adult conversation but also being able to keep an eye on the children.

Sophie and Laurence certainly had a day to remember, surrounded by family and friends and lots of children. They were in their element.

It was such a pleasure to cater for them on their big day and we wish them all the best.
