Ahh….the lovely Zoe and James! They booked what seems like years ago but their day finally came round and it was a real corker!
Once again at the stunning Gildredge Manor in Eastbourne, the couple tied the knot in the delightful Garden Room on the ground floor overlooking the grounds. With the official bit done and dusted it was straight outside for welcome drinks and nibbles.
The couple specially requested Mini Minted Lamb Meatballs as one of their canapé, and they went down a storm, as did the Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Blinis, Chicken Satay Skewers & Roasted Mediterranean Vegetable Bruschetta.
The Wedding party then made their way up to the Long Room and took their seats for the next part of the day. There was a real buzz in the room which is always great to hear, and it turned out they were a really fun bunch and they really liked their grub too! Great to hear people tucking in and really having a laugh….and then seeing clean plates coming back into the kitchen afterwards.
To start things off the guests had pre-ordered from Chicken Caesar Salad or Farmhouse Pate with Onion Marmalade. Simple but tasty classics.
To follow the guests enjoyed either Individual Steak & Ale Pie or Chicken Breast wrapped with Smoked Bacon & served with Roast Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables. Again simple but delicious.
This was followed by Zesty Lemon Pots with Raspberries and Shortbread Biscuit, Strawberry and Cream Pavlova & Chocolate Gateaux. Clean plates all round once again! I think Zoe and James knew exactly what their families and friends would really enjoy.
After the meal the group went back downstairs for drinks or coffee in the Bar area. It’s always a good idea these days to have a coffee station as it gets people up and about and mingling again, and actually not everybody wants it (in our experience around 65% have it) so it can be a waste of time and money to serve it at the tables. With a coffee station you can tell us how many you want to allow for and just pay that amount.
The evening kicked off with music and dancing and Zoe had even thought of peoples’ tired feet by providing a basket of flip flops….very tempting for us staff too…there’s a lot of stairs between the kitchen and the Long Room for us!!
The evening buffet was a simple Cheese Board with Bread and Crackers and a Meat Platter of Cooked Ham. Again, so simple, but hits the spot exactly!
A great day for the guests, and for us too! Zoe and James are lovely people, as were their friends and families, and we wish them all the very best!
